What he does
Jeff invents new astronomical instruments he can use to look at the sun and other galaxies.

How he got into science
As a child, Jeff loved reading about science. In college, he felt drawn to physics because it uses math and real-world experiences. Then he stumbled upon astrophysics.

Favorite accomplishments
As a scientist, what Jeff enjoys most of all is to take on a new problem and to find its solution. He discovered the largest galaxy. And he was the one who learned that the Sun's surface is not uniformly hot.

In his free time
Jeff tries to keep up with his two teenagers by helping with Boy Scouts and soccer. He's passionate about duplicate bridge and ping pong, and loves to read.
