What he does
Eric buys, installs and maintains all the computer hardware and software at HIGP. He also helps the scientists write software.

How he got into science
Eric's been interested in science and computers since high school. He settled on astronomy because he can use his knowledge of computers to look back at Earth from space.

Favorite accomplishments
The GOES 10 satellite is normally used for weather, but Eric uses it to monitor fires and volcanoes around the world. The GOES website posts images of these regions minutes after they're received.

In his free time
Eric enjoys hiking. He's also learning trampoline with his kids. It's great exercise, and it's all about physics.

"Astronomy has the universe as its laboratory. Anything that could possibly happen is happening now, somewhere."
